Dasha Shkel is an interdisciplinary artist whose work addresses the discrepancy between the complexity of reality and the systems we construct to explain it. A recurring concern in her practice is the moment when a system begins to break down while retaining the appearance of stability.

Her practice moves across immersive audiovisual installations, interactive environments and sculpture. The form of each work develops from its central idea. She leads projects from concept through fabrication and installation, collaborating with architects, engineers and specialist producers.

Her work has been presented internationally, including at TodaysArt Festival (The Hague), InScience Festival (Nijmegen) and the State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), with a solo exhibition at Gallery D.O.T. in Berlin.

Shkel works internationally as a curator across exhibitions, media art and large-scale cultural programmes, and has developed concepts for several museum projects.
